The Kennesaw State track and field team's will be traveling to Nashville, Tennessee to compete in the Vanderbilt Invitational inside the  Vanderbilt Wellness and Recreation Center Jan. 20-21.

LAST TEAM INDOOR MEET
 Kennesaw State opened the 2018 indoor track season at the Gene Edmonds Open in West Lafayette Indiana. The Owls collected three event wins and posted some strong performances in their season opener.

The Field
The Vanderbilt Invitational features an impressive list of participating teams and individual competitors. Teams from Alabama, Auburn, Belmont, Connecticut, Furman, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Maryland, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Missouri, Oklahoma, SMU, Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois, Southern Mississippi, Tulane, UAB and Western Kentucky and Vanderbilt are scheduled to compete.

The team will travel to compete in the Penn State Nationals January 26-27. 
 
Powell, Sergeant and Akindele Sweep ASUN Athlete of the Week Awards
Kennesaw State's Erica Sergeant and Jocselyn Powell and Dayo Akindele collected ASUN  Women's and Men's  Track and Field Athlete of the Week Honors the conference announced on Wednesday, January 17. 


Former Owls scheduled to compete at Commodore Invitational
Former Owl All-Americans Andre Dorsey and Joshua Mulder are scheduled to compete in this weekend's Commodore Invitational. Mulder will be making his professional debut this weekend. Dorsey competed professionally last spring and won the long jump at the 2018 LSU Purple Tiger last weekend.


 NEWS AND NOTES
»   The men's track and field team leads the ASUN in six of 17 events. 
 
»   Freshman Omar Diaz leads the ASUN in the 200m with a time of 22.00, while junior Braden Canamare leads in the 400m with a time of 49.42
 
 » Dayo Akindele won the triple jump with a leap of 15.07m (49'5.5) which leads the conference. He also finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 7.03m (23' 0.75") and was the top collegiate in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.08 seconds to lead the ASUN. Akindele earned both ASUN Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors.
  
» The Owls 4x400m relay team of Canamare, Diaz, Jordan Hewing and Paris Williams posted a mark of 3:23.29 which leads the conference.
 
 » The women's track and field team are leading the ASUN in eight of 17 events.

» Senior Jordan Gray leads the ASUN in the 800m (2:221.17) the long jump with a leap of 6.07m (19'11), the sht put with a throw of 13.24m (43'3.25)  and the Pentathlon with 4221 points
 
»Sophomore Nia Seldon  landed a toss of  18.18 m (59'7.75) in the weight throw which leads the ASUN by 2.42m. 
 
» Erica Sergeant won the pole vault with a leap of 3.96m (12"11.75). That vault currently leads the ASUN and tied for 30thnationally.
 
» Jocselyn Powell recorded a time of 8.43 seconds in the 60m hurdles to lead the ASUN.

» The Owls 4x400m relay team of Powell, Tionna Fant, Destiny Jackson and Dollitia Thomas registered a time of 3:56.69 to grab the conference lead.
