SHOAL CREEK, Ala. – The Kennesaw State men's golf team recorded a final round 7-over par 295 to finish at 11-over par 875, and place eighth at the 12-team Shoal Creek Invitational Presented by Graeme McDowell that concluded Tuesday at Shoal Creek Country Club in Shoal Creek, Ala.
Junior
Jake Fendt tied for seventh after carding a third-round total of even par and finishing with a 3-under par score of 213. Redshirt junior
Wyatt Larkin had the low round of the day for the Owls, posting a 2-under par 70 to tie for 53rd at 11-over par 227.
"Today was disappointing as we were fighting back all day with two to three guys struggling early," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "A hats off to Jake for a solid tournament and a nice bounce back final round from Wyatt, who had a difficult day on Monday.
"This team has tremendous potential and we've shown bits and pieces individually but have yet to put it all together as a team," Odom added. "Moving forward, we will work on finding day-to-day consistency."
Wake Forest captured the team title with a 15-under par score of 849, to place 13 shots ahead of second-place Liberty (862, -2).
Sophomore
Connor Coffee (222, +6) tied for 32nd, while juniors
Adam Morris (224, +8) and
Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero Torres (228, +12), tied for 41st and 56th, respectively.
Freshman
Brady Keran, playing as an individual, turned in a 2-over par 74 and tied for 41st with an 8-over par score of 224.
Kennesaw State is next in action October 8 when it opens play in the Franklin American Mortgage Intercollegiate hosted by Middle Tennessee at The Grove in College Grove, Tenn.
