GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Kennesaw State women's golf team jumped up a spot and moved into a tie for fourth place following the second round at the 2017 Lady Paladin Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 23) at the par-72, 6,278-yard Furman University Golf Course.
"Today was a good day for the Owls," Kennesaw State head coach
Rhyll Brinsmead said. "I'm really pleased with how we learned from yesterday and had a much more aggressive approach today. This course rewards smart decisions and solid execution and we did those things well today. Madison again led the way and her 2-under par 70 was impressive. We've moved up to a tie for fourth place and we're in contention. This team loves to play golf and loves to compete. Tomorrow will be a fun day."
The Owls posted their lowest round of the season with a 1-over par score of 289 and sit at 11-over par with a two-round total of 587.
Junior
Madison Caldwell leads the Owls individually, sitting in 5th with a 2-under par total of 142 after draining four birdies and 12 pars for 2-under par 72 in her second round.
Senior
Henriette Nielsen carded an even-par 72 with two birdies and 14 pars in her second round. She sits tied for 19
th with a 3-over par total of 147. Junior
Roanne Tomlinson rolled in three birdies in route to an even-par 72. She is tied for 23
rd with a two-round total of 4-over par 148.
Charlotte Charrayre posted her second-straight round of 3-over par and sits tied for 33rd with a 6-over par total of 150. Rounding out the Owls was freshman
Kwan Wongsinth with a 9-over par 81 who is tied for 85th with a 22-over par score of 166.
Daytona State owns the 36-hole lead in the 17-team event following a 1-over par 289 and owns a four-stroke lead over Furman with a 3-under par total of 573. Daytona State's Jiwon Jeon continues to lead all individuals with a 9-under par two-round total of 135 after carding a 1-over par score of 73 on Saturday.
The Owls will finish play at the Lady Paladin Invitational with the third and final round on Sunday (Sept. 24) with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. ET. Live scoring for the third round is available
