KENNESAW, Ga. - The 28th season of of Kennesaw State cross country is set to begin Friday, September 1 at the JSU Struts XC Opener in Oxford, Alabama. 

Third-year head coach David Poteet leads a pair of young teams in action this season both of which are filled with new faces.  

The women's team returns three runners from last year's squad including senior Saidah Grant, junior Caitlyn Farrell and sophomore Bonnie McKinnon. They will be joined by freshmen Morgan Haney, Katie Meyer and Reagan Poteet who will help strengthen the team. Grant, Farrell and McKinnon competed in all six meets for the Owls last season. 
 
The women were picked fourth in the ASUN by the coaches in the preseason poll. Lipscomb was tabbed as the preseason favorite, taking home seven first place votes. Jacksonville was picked as the runner-up.

The men's team returns three athletes from last year's roster. Senior Jordan Hand, sophomore Will Hasse, and redshirt-sophomore Logan Poteet, who redshirted last season after transferring from North Florida, will lead a very talented group that includes three freshmen in Chase Kennedy, Colton Page and Ben Patterson. Hand and Hasse combined for eight top 35 finishes a year ago. Poteet won the men's ASUN Cross Country individual championship while at North Florida in 2015.
 
The men were picked fifth in the preseason poll by the coaches. Lipscomb was the preseason favorite, taking home six first place votes. North Florida was picked as runner-up.

The Owls are scheduled to compete in six meets this season. KSU will host the inaugural Stan Sims Invitational on Friday, September 8, and the ASUN Conference Championships on Saturday, October 28. Both meets will be held at Sam Smith Park in Cartersville, Georgia.
