WGCA Release
KENNESAW, Ga. –
Dulcie Sverdloff and Medy Thavong were named to the 2016-17 Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team on Wednesday afternoon.

"It is with great honor that we announce Dulcie and Medy as WGCA Academic All Americans," Head Coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "This honor is the highest national level, to be recognized a player must earn a 3.5 cumulative GPA and compete in over 50% of events. Not only did Dulcie and Medy earn this benchmark, but they also hold the two highest GPA's on the team and the two lowest stroke averages. This is no coincidence. Both of these athletes strive to be the best in everything they do. They have set the standard and I am proud to call them KSU Owls, past and present."

Sverdloff was named to the WGCA All-American Scholar team for the fourth year in a row while graduating in May with a degree in sports management with a 3.77 GPA. She played in all 11 tournaments this season and finished second on the team with a 74.58 scoring average. The senior was the Owls top finisher twice this and tied with Thavong for the team lead with seven rounds at par or better. She tied for second at the Johnie Imes Invitational after carding rounds of 74-67-72 for a 3-under par total of 213. Her second-round 67 was a career-low and tied for the second-lowest round in program history on a par-72 course. The Southend-on-Sea, Essex native led the Owls with rounds of 73-69-74 for an even-par total of 216 to finish fourth at the Hawkeye El-Tigre Invitational. She earned a spot on the ASUN All-Academic Team, the ASUN All-Conference First Team and ASUN Championships All-Tournament Team.

Thavong, a Prachinburi, Thailand native carries a 4.0 grade point average in Accounting. This is her second consecutive appearance on the WGCA All-American Scholar Team.  The sophomore played in all 11 tournaments this season and led the team with a 73.81 scoring average.
