Ottawa, Canada -- Kennesaw State track and field's
Jordan Gray and
Joshua Mulder opened action at the 2017 IAAF Capital Cup Combined Events Championship at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility.
Gray finished with 3369 points on day one of the heptathlon and sits in third place overall.
She opened the meet with a time of 14.41 seconds in the 100m hurdles which was good for sixth.
Her best event of the day came in the high jump where she would grab a tie for third place finish with a clearance of 1.73m (5'8). That tied for her personal-best performance in the high jump she landed 2016 at the ASUN Outdoor Championships.
In the shot put, she landed a throw of 12.25m (40'2.25) to finish sixth.
In the final event of the day, she ran a time of 25.09 seconds in the 200m which was good for sixth.
Competing in the decathlon, Mulder sits in sixth place with 3878 points through five events.
In the opening event of the decathlon, Mulder ran a time of 11.17 seconds in the 100m to finish 12th.
Mulder landed a jump of 6.93m (22'9) which was good for sixth in the event.
He cleared a career-best height 1.93m (6'4) in the high jump to tie for fifth.
In the shot put, he finished second with a toss of 12.17m (39'11.25).
He would close out the day speeding to a career-best time of 48.17 seconds in the 400m to finish second.
Gray will finish the heptathlon and Mulder will finish the decathlon on Thursday, July 5.
