KENNESAW, Ga. – Under first-year head coach Pete D'Amour, the 2017 season turned out to be a record-breaking year for the Kennesaw State softball program.
 
The Owls posted a 40-20 overall record, finished second in the ASUN Conference, advanced to postseason play for the first time in NCAA Division I program history and were ranked No. 46 in the final RPI rankings – a program-best at the Division I level.
 
The highlight of the season came at the end of the year when Kennesaw State earned the No. 1 overall seed in the inaugural National Invitational Softball Championship (NISC), captured the Region 5 title and advanced the semifinals.
 
The following is a list of team and individual highlights from the 2017 season:
 
TEAM

• Won 40 games at the NCAA Division I level for the second time in program history
• Finished second in the ASUN Conference regular season standings
• Advanced to the inaugural NISC Championship, marking program's first postseason appearance at the NCAA Division I level
• Went 3-0 to capture the NISC Region 5 title, and advanced to the semifinals
• Produced a NCAA Division I program record 11-game winning streak
• Led ASUN Conference in batting average (.303), runs scored (302), hits (505), doubles (83), triples (19), home runs (45) and slugging percentage (.456)
• Ranked among the top 50 nationally in batting average (No. 34), earned-run average (No. 41), slugging percentage (No. 36), stolen bases per game (No. 17), triples per game (No. 10) and won-loss percentage (No. 35).
• Had a NCAA Division I-record seven individuals earn ASUN Conference postseason accolades
