THE STORYLINE:
· Four runs on six hits in the top of the ninth could not overcome an 8-0 deficit as No. 5 Kennesaw State dropped its semifinal matchup against No. 1 Jacksonville at Melching Field, 8-4.
· The Owls managed just four hits and no runs until a four-run, six hit explosion in the ninth, but the Dolphins eight runs through the first six innings held off a late rally to earn a spot in the ASUN championship round.
· With the loss, Kennesaw State (25-31) must avoid elimination in Friday night's evening contest. The Black and Gold will face the winner between No. 6 Lipscomb and No. 3 FGCU.

HOW IT HAPPENED
· The Dolphins scored three runs in the first inning, two more in the second and three in the sixth to take their largest lead of the game at 8-0.
· The Black and Gold's offense managed just four hits against LHP Casey Kulina over the first eight innings, working 8.0 innings and struck out 10.
· Down eight in their final at-bats, the Owls reeled off four straight hits –including an RBI single off the bat of LaDonis Bryant—and an RBI walk from Jeremy Howell to pull KSU within 8-2.
· The rally continued when David Chabut and Grant Williams tallied RBI to cut the deficit within four, but the Black and Gold could not get any closer to the Dolphins.
· Offensively, the lineup was paced by Williams (2-for-4, RBI), Forrest Bramlett (2-for-5), Griffin Helms (1-for-3), Howell (1-for-3, RBI), and Bryant (1-for-1, RBI).
