KENNESAW, Ga. – The postseason honors continue for Kennesaw State senior
Courtney Sutter as she was named third team all-south region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), the organization announced on Thursday (May 18).
Â
Sutter, who earlier this month was named ASUN Conference Player of the Year and first team all-conference, becomes the third Kennesaw State player to earn NFCA regional honors during the program's Division I era. She joins Jessica Cross (2008) and Sharon Swanson (2011) who previously receive all-region accolades.
Â
The KSU catcher has enjoyed a career-year in 2017 while helping the Owls to a 39-18 record, second place finish in the ASUN Conference and the National Invitational Softball Championship (NISC) Region 5 title.
Â
Sutter is currently batting .382 with 15 home runs, 50 RBIs, a .724 slugging percentage, .462 on-base percentage and 39 runs scored, all career bests that rank among the ASUN Conference leaders. Her 15 home runs and .724 slugging percentage rank fifth on KSU's single-season lists.
Â
The Marietta, Ga. native also is fifth on Kennesaw State's career home run chart with 36 and 10th with 139 RBIs.
Â
The Owls' will continue their season on Sunday (May 21) when they open play in the championship round of the NISC. Kennesaw State defeated Georgia State, 3-2, earlier on Thursday to capture the Region 5 championship. Â
