Kennesaw State returns home for a five-game homestand at Stillwell Stadium, kicking things off with a pair of non-conference midweek games on campus. The Owls host in-state rival Mercer Tuesday evening, before hosting Western Carolina Wednesday. Both games are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. and will air live on ASUN.TV.
ON DECK
- Kennesaw State enters the new week with an overall record of 12-16 and 1-2 in ASUN play, outscoring opponents 188-177 and out-hitting opponents 288-253 throughout those games.
- The Owls have tallied at least 10 hits in 16 of their 27 games this season, and are 11-5 overall when out-hitting opponents in a single game. Kennesaw State has totaled 10 or more hits in seven of its last 10 games.
- Taylor Allum continued his hot bat at the plate, going 5-for-12 (.417) at North Florida over the weekend, tallying one home run, one RBI, and slugged .667. The junior ranks fifth in the nation in total HR (11), seventh in home runs per game (0.41) and 14th in slugging percentage (.745).
- Grant Williams is riding a 13-game hitting streak headed into the new week, batting .431 over the stretch, tallying 22 hits, six RBI, three doubles and one home run.
- The two junior teammates (Allum and Williams) have reached base at a consistent rate, with Allum reaching base safely in 22 straight games while Williams has reached base safely in 13 straight games.
- Senior DH/OF Corey Greeson has found his way in the lineup after a slow start to the season, batting .320 (8-for-25), totaling one triple, one home run and seven RBI. He is slugging .520 and has totaled an on-base percentage of .419 during the stretch.
- The Owls have out-hit opponents 178-158 at Stillwell Stadium in 18 home games, and have totaled 39 doubles, four triples, and 17 home runs. KSU ranks 22nd in the nation in total HR as a team and first in the ASUN in HR per game (1.07), slugging percentage (.449) and total HR (30).
- Head Coach Mike Sansing is the reigning ASUN Coach of the Year, winning his first honors since Kennesaw State joined the ASUN in 2006. He is the second-youngest coach on the 1,000-win list, and is one of 13 active coaches with 1,000 victories who have coaches at least 10 seasons of D-I baseball.
- The skipper won his 950th game Thursday (March 16) at Western Carolina, taking a 12-3 non-conference tilt at Hennon Stadium. The win also snapped a three-game losing skid in Cullowhee, N.C. Sansing now sits 46 wins away from winning his 1,000th career game in the Black and Gold uniform.
