Outdoor Meet 6: Kennesaw State at WCU Invitational

The Kennesaw State track and field teams will close out the regular season at the WCU Invitational in Cullowhee, North Carolina at the WCU Invitational on Friday, April 28. This is will be the Owls final meet prior to the ASUN Outdoor Championships on May 12-13.
Catamount Athletic Complex
For track & field events, the Catamount Athletic Complex features an eight-lane, 400-meter Beynon 1000 System track with two pole vault and jump runways on the south end with pits adorning either end. The sprint lanes at the CAC are located on the back stretch directly across from the grandstand seating to provide full-race viewing for spectators.
The facility also includes a high jump apron on the north end with a pair of javelin runways gracing each end of the track, interchangeable with wind directions. The shot put and discus areas are located inside the track and a hammer / discus area located directly beside the track.

THE COMPETITION
The WCU Invitational field consist of Kennesaw State, Western Carolina, ETSU, UNC-Ashville, Morehead State, Piedmont, North Georgia, Milligan, Jacksonville (women) and Georgia State (women).
LAST TEAM OUTDOOR MEET
The Kennesaw State track and field posted many strong performances at the Virginia Challenge on Friday and Saturday, April 21-22. The Owls won a few events and set few school records at the two-day meet.
NEXT UP
The Owls will begin the postseason at the ASUN Outdoor Championships on May 12-13 at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida.

» The men's track and field team enters the week ranked 133 in this week's USTFCCCA Outdoor computer rankings poll.
» The men's team enters the week leading the ASUN in 10 of 21 events so far this season.
Cameron Bolden is tied for the lead in the 100m (10.75).
Jonathon Womack leads in the 400m (48.18). The Owls lead the 4x100m relay with a time of 40.91.

Brenton Rosa lead in the pole vault after clearing 5.03m (16'6).
Dayo Akindele leads in the long jump (7.67m, 25'2) and the triple jump (15.39m, 50'6).
Chuck McConville leads in the shot put (15.53m, 50'11.5), while
Fabeon Tucker leads in the Discus throw (51.02m,167'5) and the hammer throw (56.19m, 184'4).
Joshua Mulder leads in the decathlon after scoring 7320 points at the Virginia Challenge.

Dayo Akindele is currently ranked 26th in the long jump, 30th in the 110m hurdles, and 55th in the triple jump in the NCAA this season.

Hunter Arnold and
Brenton Rosa were named ASUN Field Athletes of the Week. Arnold and Rosa tied for the winning height in the pole vault at the Virginia Challenge. They set the school record in the pole vault after clearing 5.03m (16'6).They are tied for the ASUN lead in the pole vault and rank tied 41st in the NCAA East Region this season. This is Arnold and Rosa's first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.

Joshua Mulder finished second amongst collegiate in the decathlon scoring 7320 points. He finished in the top-10 in nine of the ten decathlon events, He won the 400m in a time of 48.39 and the 110m hurdles in 14.43. According to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, Mulder's 7320 points were fifth-best in the country based on all of the data collected by TFRRS.org from this past weekend's college track & field contests from all levels (NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, etc.)

Jocselyn Powell leads in the 100m hurdles (13.51) and 400m hurdles (58.14). The Owls 4x100m relay (45.48) and 4x400m relay team (3:42.79) currently lead the ASUN.
Erica Sergeant leads in the pole vault with her clearance of 4.03m (13'2.5).
Jordan Gray leads the ASUN in the long jump (6.05m, 19'10.25) and the heptathlon with 5391 points.
Morgan Campbell leads in the triple jump with a leap of 12.39m (40'7.75).
» Powell is ranked 23rd in the NCAA in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.14 at Florida Relays.
Jordan Gray is ranked 24th in the country with her 5391 points scored in the heptathlon at the Virginia Challenge.
» Sergeant finished third in the pole vault at the Virginia Challenge setting a new school record with a leap of 4.03m (13'2.5"). She became the first Owl in program history to ever get over 4m in the pole vault. The sophomore leads the ASUN in the pole vault by nearly 1.5 feet. That vault is tied for 26th best in the NCAA East Region and is tied for 64th in the NCAA this season. This is Sergeant's second field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
» Gray set a KSU school record scoring 5391 points to finish second in the heptathlon at the Virginia Challenge. She ranks tops in the ASUN, ninth in the NCAA East Region, and 24th in the NCAA in the heptathlon. According to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, Gray's 5391 points were fourth-best in the country based on all of the data collected by TFRRS.org from this past weekend's college track & field contests from all levels (NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, etc.) The redshirt sophomore ran a personal-best time by half a second of 24.82 in the 200m to finish fourth on a cold and rainy day. She finished third in the 100m hurdles in a personal- best time of 14.26. She also set the school record in the heptathlon long jump with a leap of 6.05m (19'10.25).

Hannah Wood tied the school-record in the 100m-dash with a time of 11.56 seconds to finish third. She finished second in the 200m in 23.83 seconds.
