KENNESAW, Ga. – A classic pitchers' duel between Kennesaw State's Alley Cutting and Emily Anderson of Georgia Tech was on display before a capacity crowd at Bailey Park on Tuesday.

Cutting and Anderson were in control throughout the game before the Yellow Jackets scored an unearned run in the top of 12th inning and went on to register a 2-1 victory over the Owls on Lexi's Day.

Both teams had few scoring opportunities before Georgia Tech (15-33) took advantage of a leadoff walk and passed ball to score the go-ahead and eventual winning run on an RBI single to center field by Crosby Huckabay.

The loss overshadowed a solid performance by Cutting (15-9), who went the distance and allowed two runs (one earned), five walks and struck out a career-high tying 12 batters while pitching a career-high 12 innings.

Kennesaw State (32-16) had an opportunity to win the game in the ninth inning when it put the potential winning run on second base with one out. However, Anderson (7-13) worked out of trouble by recording a strikeout and inducing a ground ball for the final out of the inning.

The Yellow Jackets' right-hander scattered nine hits, allowed one run, hit a batter and struck out eight in the complete-game effort.

Cutting held Georgia Tech hitless through the first four innings before Kelsey Chisolm opened the fifth with a home run over the left field fence.

The Owls answered in the bottom half of the inning scoring a run with two outs after Taylor Denton, Katie Cannington and Olivia Tamewitz hit consecutive singles that produced a run and tied the score.

Denton and Katey Lynch had two hits apiece to account for four of Kennesaw State's nine hits.

The Owls will close out their regular season this weekend when they travel to Nashville, Tenn., to open a three-game series at Lipscomb. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 5 p.m. before concluding the series with a 3 p.m. (ET) contest on Sunday.
