NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Paced by singles wins from
Simon Pritchard and
Fermin Calvo Barcelo, the Kennesaw State men's tennis team handled Lipscomb, 5-2, Saturday afternoon in the teams' regular-season finale in Nashville.

The Owls (13-7, 4-2 ASUN) rallied after dropping the doubles point to win five of the six singles matches and secure their third straight victory. Four of the six singles matches went the distance.

KSU's 13-7 overall record and 4-2 league mark each stand as the best win-loss records in team history, and the Owls have secured the No. 3-seed in next week's ASUN Tournament. Lipscomb (5-13, 1-5) is the No. 6-seed, meaning the Owls and Bisons will meet again in next Friday's first round at 5 p.m. in Fort Myers, Fla.

"This is the first time in four years that we lost the doubles point and ended up winning the dual match," said Director of Tennis
Eduardo Rincon. "Today's match was a great match. I don't think we played our best tennis today, but we showed a lot of heart, resiliency, and determination. It was definitely team effort, where everybody contributed."

Pritchard rallied from a set down to win 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 and his point was the clincher for the Owls on Saturday.

After the Owls dropped the doubles point with Lipscomb posting a pair of 7-6 wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles,
Drew Wendel put the Owls on even terms at 1-1 with his 6-3, 6-0 win over Thais Minet at No. 5 singles. Lipscomb regained a 2-1 lead with a win at No. 4, but it was all Owls after that.

Sam Slade won a three-setter at No. 3, Calvo Barcelo finished off a three-set win at No. 2 for his team-leading 20
th singles win this season, Pritchard posted his 13
th singles win, and
Jake Bouchillon capped the match by claiming a back-and-forth three-setter.
Making their third consecutive ASUN Tournament appearance, the Owls are the No. 3-seed and will open play vs. No. 6 Lipscomb next Friday at Florida Gulf Coast. Friday's other first-round match-up is No. 4 FGCU vs. No. 5 USC Upstate. The top two seeds -- No. 1 North Florida and No. 2 Stetson have first-round byes.
