Jordan Gray was named to the Winter 2016-17 Winners for Life Team by the ASUN Conference on Wednesday (Apr.12).
The Winners for Life team honors a campus citizen that is respected as one who shares and/or demonstrates the ASUN Core Values: Education, Honesty, Student-Athlete Experience, Fairness, Health, Ambition, Respect, Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, Responsibility, and Sportsmanship. To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have competed in the current academic year in an ASUN sponsored sport and be in good academic standing at his/her university.
Gray has been a standout in combined events in track & field for the Owls during her time with the program. The Ball Ground, Georgia native, won the pentathlon at the ASUN Championships with a new school and conference record of 4019 points. In the pentathlon field events, Gray won the shot put with a school and conference record toss of 13.57m (44'6.5) and the long jump with a leap of 5.74m (18'10). She finished second in the pentathlon high jump after clearing 1.65m (5'5). In the open events, Gray scored in each of the four events she competed. She would reach the medal stand in the long jump with a leap of 5.79m (19'0) to earn the silver medal and in the high jump clearing 1.70m (5'7) to take home the bronze medal. She also collected points for the Owls with a finishing fourth in the pole vault and fifth in the shot put. Her 30 points scored at the meet also earned her ASUN Most Valuable Performer and Most Outstanding Field Performer honors. She competed in all six indoor meets during the season including the Harvard Crimson Elite where she jumped a conference-best mark of 5.93m (19'5.5). She also was named to ASUN Conference Women's Indoor Track All-Academic Team.
