KENNESAW, Ga. -- The Kennesaw State women's tennis team completed its 2017 home schedule with a setback to Mercer Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at the Betty Siegel Courts.
Â
The Bears knocked off the Owls, 7-0, improving the visitors to 12-8 this season. Kennesaw State (5-13) has one match remaining in the regular season before heading to Fort Myers, Fla. for the ASUN Tournament next weekend.
Â
Mercer claimed the doubles point, and won matches at Nos. 1, 3, and 6 to clinch the victory.
Â
"Today was disappointing," said Assistant Head Coach
Miranda Foley. "We need to come out with more energy and excitement against an in-state rival. As a team, we need to take a long, hard look at what happened today, and learn from it. We have a tough conference match on the road Saturday at Lipscomb and it'll be important for us to get some positive momentum going with the ASUN Tournament next week."
Â
Saturday's match at Lipscomb is set for a 4 p.m. first serve. The winner of that match earns the fifth seed in the ASUN Tournament that begins April 21 at Florida Gulf Coast.
