Kennesaw State continues its four-game road trip this week, trekking down to DeLand, Fla., to take on ASUN foe Stetson at Melching Field for a three-game series. The shortened Easter weekend is scheduled to begin Thursday at 6:30 p.m., followed by a 6:30 p.m. contest on Friday before wrapping up the series Saturday at 1 p.m. All three tilts will air on ESPN3.
ON DECK
- Kennesaw State continues its ASUN slate coming off a three-game weekend sweep over USC Upstate a week ago to improve to 4-2 in conference play. The Owls have won eight of their last nine ASUN series dating back to a season ago.
- In six ASUN games, the Black and Gold have totaled a 34-23 run disparity and has out-hit opponents 68-50 in those games. Kennesaw State is 14-5 this season when out-hitting an opponent in a single game.
- Overall, in the ASUN, KSU has tallied a .327 batting average as a team, totaling 68 hits, 10 doubles, two triples, four home runs and 33 RBI. The Owls have slugged .452 and tallied an on-base percentage of .373 in those six contests.
- Taylor Allum walked in the fifth frame Tuesday evening, extending his streak to 27 straight games of reaching base safely. The junior outfielder is nine games shy of tying Max Pentecost's record of 36 straight games in 2014.
- Senior DH/OF Corey Greeson reached base at least once in every game over the weekend, now reaching base safely in 13 straight games played. Over the stretch, the senior is batting .366 (15-for-41) with two doubles, one triple, two HR, and eight RBI – he was given the night off on Tuesday.
- Two-way player Chris Erwin recorded three straight multi-RBI games for the Owls versus USC Upstate over the weekend, and was back at it with two more hits on Tuesday evening in Statesboro, Ga. Erwin ranks fifth on the team with nine multi-hit games and second with six multi-RBI games.
- Erwin, a Grayson, Ga., native, is currently on an eight-game hitting streak –the longest active streak on the roster—and is batting .484 with 15 hits, 10 RBI, three doubles, one triple and two walks over the stretch.
- Head Coach Mike Sansing is the reigning ASUN Coach of the Year, winning his first honors since Kennesaw State joined the ASUN in 2006. He is the second-youngest coach on the 1,000-win list, and is one of 13 active coaches with 1,000 victories who have coaches at least 10 seasons of D-I baseball.
- The skipper won his 950th game Thursday (March 16) at Western Carolina, taking a 12-3 non-conference tilt at Hennon Stadium. The win also snapped a three-game losing skid in Cullowhee, N.C. Sansing now sits 43 wins away from winning his 1,000th career game in the Black and Gold uniform.
