MACON, GA. - The Kennesaw State women's golf team sits in fourth place after the first two rounds of the Brickyard Collegiate at the Brickyard Golf Course

The Owls posted a 12-over par 300 in round one and a nine-over par score of 297 for a total of 21-over par 597. No.9 Furman leads the 15-team field with a two-round total of 17-over par 593.

"This is by far the most challenging course we have seen all year," head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "I'm so proud of our execution, patience, and tenacity today. We played some really solid golf today. Medy's rounds were phenomenal as we're Laura's. There are some stretches of holes on this course that will test your patience and we did a great job of sticking to the game plan. A Top 5 finish in this event and field would be a great way to wrap up the regular season. We've put ourselves in a great position for tomorrows round."

Sophomore Medy Thavong closed her first round with 15 pars and a birdie to card a 73. In her second round, the sophomore had six pars and a birdie in route to an even-par 72. Thavong is tied for second with a two-round total of 145 (+1).

Senior Laura Estefenn finished with two birdies on her final six holes in the first round to post a two-over par 74. In her second-round, she made 13 pars on the way to a 1-over par 73. She is tied for 13th with a two-round total of 147 (+3).

Dulcie Sverdloff is tied for 31st at 8-over par 152. Sverdloff made four birdies to help card a 2-over par 74. She recorded a 6-over par 78 in the second round.

After a tough opening round 8-over 80, Charlotte Charrayre rolled in 12 pars in her second round to post a two-over par 74. She sits tied for 38th with a two-round total of 10-over par 154.
