NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Riding the momentum of a late-inning come-from-behind victory in game one, the Kennesaw State softball team completed a doubleheader sweep of Belmont Wednesday at E.S. Rose Park in Nashville.

Redshirt freshman Alley Cutting (7-2) was the highlight in game two as she tossed her second no-hitter within a week, after allowing an unearned run, walking four and striking out seven during a 7-1 victory. The Owls' right hander pitched a perfect game against Dartmouth on March 3.

After hitting a solo home run in the sixth inning to cut a two-run deficit to 4-3, senior Courtney Sutter singled home the go-head run in the top of the seventh, and freshman Cutting worked a scoreless bottom half of the inning to earn her second save and secure a 5-4 victory.

Sutter collected two more hits and freshman Beth McCulley drove in a pair of runs to lead the Owls' (16-5) in the nightcap.

The Owls broke a 1-1 tie with a five-run sixth inning as they sent 10 batters to the plate.

Chandler Griffin, who had clutch seventh-inning hit in game one, walked to open the sixth inning. One out later Katey Lynch followed with a single up the middle ahead of a two-run double by Beth McCulley. She came around to score after advancing to third on an infield hit by Katie Cannington, and scored on a wild pitch. Taylor Denton capped the scoring with an RBI single.

Sutter finished the doubleheader 4-for-8 with two runs scored and an RBI, while freshman Olivia Tamewitz went 3-for-7 with a run scored and two RBIs, while extending her hitting streak to eight games.

Kennesaw State returns to action Friday when it welcomes East Tennessee State, Michigan State and Tennessee Tech to Bailey Park for the Owl Challenge. The Owls open play against Michigan State beginning at 5:30 p.m. (ET). All five Kennesaw State games will be broadcast on ESPN3.
