OPELIKA, Ala. – Led by senior
Christopher Guglielmo, the No. 41 Kennesaw State men's golf team is tied for sixth at the 19-team Tiger Invitational at the par-72, 7,149-yard Grand National Lakes Course in Opelika, Ala.
Sunday's play was halted due to darkness with the Owls in the middle of their second round and tied for sixth place. The scheduled three-day 54-hole event has been condensed into two days as the teams attempt to complete the tournament on Monday before Tuesday's expected bad weather.
Kennesaw State opened with a 1-under par 287, eight shots behind No. 23 and host Auburn, which led No. 27 Missouri (280, -6) by one shot. The host Tigers carded a 9-under par 279. When play was suspended, Auburn held a three-shot lead over Missouri, and nine shots in front of the Owls, who are at even-par even par.
Guglielmo opened play in record-breaking fashion as he carded a career-low par-72, 7-under par 65 to finish the first round atop the individual leaderboard, one shot better than Zan Luka Stirn of Arkansas State. He will begin play on Monday tied for third, two shots back of UNCW's Thomas Eldridge, who is 9-under par through 30 holes.
Freshman
Connor Coffee opened with a 1-over par 73 and is tied for 41st., Sophomores
Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero Torres and
Jake Fendt are tied for 48th, while senior
Teremoana Beaucousin is tied for 77th.
The teams will be back on the course at 8:45 a.m. (ET) on Monday to complete the second round and are scheduled to open third-round action with a shotgun start beginning at 12:30 p.m. (ET).
