KENNESAW, Ga. –
The Kennesaw State men's and women's tennis teams are back in action Thursday, welcoming North Florida to the Betty Siegel Courts for ASUN Conference matches. Due to impending weather, the match times have been changed to 11 a.m. (women) and 2:30 p.m. (men).
 
The Owls remain home this weekend to entertain Stetson as the ASUN loop continues. Saturday's play is underway with the women at 12 p.m., followed by the men at 4 p.m.
 
Admission to all Kennesaw State tennis matches is free.
 
The KSU women are 5-9 overall and 1-1 in the ASUN. Junior Alexandra Mercado leads the way for the Owls with a 9-5 record in singles play this spring. The Puerto Rico native has also been strong in doubles, as she and teammate Elle Baker are 3-0. The Owls opened ASUN play last Wednesday with a 5-2 victory over USC Upstate, but dropped a close 5-2 match at NJIT on Saturday.
 
UNF's women bring a 9-7 overall record to Kennesaw, and commenced ASUN play with a 5-2 victory over Stetson on Saturday. Rafaela Gomez paces the team with a 9-3 record in singles play. UNF has won two straight matches and four of its last five.
 
The ASUN-leading Kennesaw State men are on a hot streak, having won seven straight matches. The team is 10-5 overall and sits on top of the ASUN standings at 2-0. The Owls have been resilient at home with a spotless 8-0 mark.
 
Senior Simon Pritchard went 4-0 last week in a pair of ASUN victories over USC Upstate and NJIT, winning both his singles and doubles matches. The senior is now 9-4 in singles play this spring, winning five straight matches. In doubles, he is 9-2.
 
The UNF men enter Thursday's match at 9-6 overall and 1-0 in the ASUN. The Osprey knocked off Florida Gulf Coast, 6-1, last Saturday in Fort Myers to begin conference action. The team is led by Shail Deshmukh, who owns a 9-5 record in singles play. Deshmukh and Jonathan Deautriell have teamed for a 10-2 mark in doubles.
