The Owls welcome Canisius College to Kennesaw for a four-game series, marking the final non-conference weekend series Kennesaw State has on the schedule before ASUN Conference play jumpstarts. The two programs will meet for the first time, as the Golden Griffins and Owls begin their weekend action Friday at 3 p.m. All four games can be seen on ASUN.TV.

ON DECK

  1. Kennesaw State currently sits at 8-12 overall and a 5-9 mark at Stillwell Stadium, and is coming off arguably its toughest stretch of the schedule playing Auburn, #12 Oklahoma and Georgia in a week's span.
  2. The Owls enter the weekend looking to snap a four-game losing skid, as the Golden Griffins fly down south with a 12-7 overall mark and a 5-6 record on the road.
  3. Kennesaw State is hitting .294 (141-480), 33 doubles, two triples and 13 of their season's 21 home runs at Stillwell Stadium. The Owls are slugging .452 and have totaled an on-base percentage of .381 in 14 home games entering the weekend.
  4. KSU, in fact, has out-hit opponents 141-123 at home, 33-21 in doubles and is 5-1 overall when holding the lead headed into the seventh frame.
  5. The Owls' early-inning success is key at home, outscoring opponents 61-44 through the first five innings of play.
  6. Head Coach Mike Sansing is back for his 26th season with the Black and Gold. He is the second-youngest coach on the 1,000-win list, and is one of 13 active coaches with 1,000 victories who have coaches at least 10 seasons of D-I baseball.
  7. The skipper won his 950th game last Thursday (March 16) at Western Carolina, taking a 12-3 non-conference tilt at Hennon Stadium. The win also snapped a three-game losing skid in Cullowhee, N.C.
  8. KSU plays a total of 56 games in the regular season, 33 of them coming at home and 23 on the road. The Owls take on 16 (eight home, eight away) midweek tilts and opens ASUN action on the road at North Florida on March 31.
  9. The Owls return 26 members from 2016, a team that won 17 games in the ASUN and became the first team since 2010 (FGCU) to win each regular-season conference series.
