. – The Kennesaw State men's track and field team won its sixth consecutive ASUN Conference Indoor team championship on Friday, February 24 at the JDL Fast Track This is the program's eighth ASUN Indoor title, which is the most in conference history.
Team Scoring:
The KSU men's team scored 223 points for the championships to win by 109 points over second-place North Florida and 125 points over third-place Lipscomb. The Owls scored 159 points on day two of the event, grabbing six event wins. The 223 point total along and the 109 point margin are both ASUN Indoor Championship records.
Combined Events
Men's Heptathlon (Final Three Events)
Paris Williams won the heptathlon by scoring 4744 points.
He won the 60m hurdles with the sixth-fastest time in school heptathlon history of 8.33 seconds.
Williams also won the 1000m run in 2:53.13 which was also sixth-fastest in program history in the heptathlon.
David Lott finished second with 4584 points.
He won the pole vault after clearing 3.70m (12'1.50).
Akindele Earns Co-Most Outstanding Performer
Sophomore
Dayo Akindele was named Co-Most Outstanding Performer of the meet along with North Florida's Nick Morken after both collected 24 points during the meet.
Akindele earned a medal in each of the three jumping events. He took home the gold medal in the triple jump, the silver medal in the long jump, and the bronze medal in the high jump.
Medal Winners
The Owls swept the podium in the weight throw with
Fabeon Tucker tossing 18.56m (60'10.75) to win gold while
Daniel Mckune who threw 15.73m (51'7.25) and
Chuck McConville who threw 15.32m (50'3.25) took home the silver and bronze medals.
Hunter Arnold cleared 4.91m (16'1.25) in the pole vault while teammate
Brenton Rosa cleared 4.76m (15'7.25 ) to take the top two spots in the event.
Dayo Akindele won the triple jump leaping 14.89m (48'10.25). He was joined on the medal stand by
Paris Williams, who took home third place with a leap of 14.29m (46'0.75).
After enduring three recalled starts,
Terrell Singleton took home the silver medal in the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.12.
In the 60m, Cam Bolden won the gold medal in a time of 6.91 seconds while
Chandler Nichols finished second in 6.97 seconds and grabbed the silver medal.
Jonathon Womack collected a gold medal in the 400m after finishing in a school record time of 48.77 seconds and Braden Canamere finished strong to grab a bronze medal with a time of 49.77.
Womack returned to the track and earned the gold medal in the 200m after finishing in 22.07 just .05 seconds ahead
Sean Blassingame who finished third in 22.12.
To close out the evening, the men's 4x400 relay team of
Jonathon Womack, Blassingame, Canamare, and
Nick Grant ran a time of 3:20.94 to take home the gold medal.

"After the regional USTFCCCA rankings came out projecting our men in the middle of the conference they had something to prove. Our student-athletes are not satisfied with what's been accomplished in the past but want to continue to build upon that legacy and they've done just that."
