The Owls end their season-opening eight-game homestand at Stillwell Stadium this weekend, hosting non-conference foe Winthrop on February 24-26. The two teams meet for the second time in program's history, as Kennesaw State traveled to Winthrop in 2015 for a weekend series in which the Eagles took two of three. All three games can be seen live on ASUN.TV with Nathan McCreary on the call Friday

ON DECK

  1. After getting rained out on Tuesday, the Owls bounced back following two straight losses with a 9-1 victory over non-conference opponent Savannah State to even their record to 2-2. KSU improved its all-time record over the Tigers to 7-1.
  2. Kennesaw State totaled 10 or more strikeouts in each of its first four games –a season-high 16 versus Western Michigan—and ranks third in the NCAA in strikeouts per nine innings with 13.50 per game. The Owls have totaled the most punch outs in the ASUN in one fewer games than the second-most (FGCU - 51).
  3. The Owls totaled 16 extra base hits through four games and leads the ASUN with a Slugging Percentage of .503, which ranks inside the Top 50 in the NCAA at 46th overall.
  4. Mason Ward earned his first victory of the season in his sixth career start versus Savannah State on Wednesday, totaling a career-high nine strikeouts in 6.0 frames. He was 2/3 innings shy of a new career high for innings pitched in an outing, and faced three batters over the minimum. He leads the team with 13 strikeouts entering the weekend.
  5. Freshman duo Terence Norman and Garrett Hodges each made their Kennesaw State collegiate debuts Wednesday night, combining to go 6-for-9 at the plate and two RBI. Norman's first AB knocked home a run and fell a home run shy of hitting for the cycle.
  6. Junior right hander Tony Dibrell made his first career last Friday night on Opening Day, tossing a solid 5.0 innings while punching out seven to earn his first win on the mound. Dibrell will once again be on the mound over the weekend as the Broncos hit just .167 off him last week.
  7. Kennesaw State will showcase its talents on the field as the Owl Network will air each home game on either ESPN3 or ASUN.TV. The Owl Network will stream 11 home games on ESPN3 and 22 tilts on ASUN.TV.
  8. KSU plays a total of 56 games in the regular season, 33 of them coming at home and 23 on the road. The Owls take on 16 (eight home, eight away) midweek tilts and opens ASUN action on the road at North Florida on March 31.
  9. The Owls return 26 members from 2016, a team that won 17 games in the ASUN and became the first team since 2010 (FGCU) to win each regular-season conference series.
