CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Solid pitching in the circle by Kennesaw State redshirt freshman
Alley Cutting and senior
Logan Viers highlighted a sweep of IUPUI and Tennessee Tech during the first day of the Chattanooga Challenge on Friday (Feb. 17).
The strong showing in the circle was supported by an explosive offense that produced 13 runs, 24 hits and nine extra bases as the Owls (5-2) defeated IUPUI, 10-1, and Tennessee Tech, 3-0.
"It was a good team effort today," head coach
Pete D'Amour said. "I was really pleased with how we came ready to play the second game. We were able to refocus and compete against a really good pitcher. Hopefully, we can bring that same intent into tomorrow's games."
In the opener against IUPUI (0-7), Cutting (2-1) allowed four hits and struck out a career-high 11 batters in 6 1/3 innings, and was backed by a 16-hit attack that included home runs by

Katie Byrd. Lynch collected three hits and scored two runs, while freshman
Olivia Tamewitz had three hits and three runs scored.
The Owls also received two hits apiece from seniors
Chandler Griffin and

Viers (2-1) continued Kennesaw State's dominance in the circle against Tennessee Tech (0-6) in the nightcap, as she no-hit the Golden Eagles through five innings before settling for a two-hit, six-strikeout performance.
Seniors
