KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's basketball team's bid for a third consecutive win came up short as the Owls fell 66-56 to visiting East Carolina Monday at the KSU Convocation Center.

Sophomore Carlotta Gianolla scored 14 points to lead a group of four KSU players in double figures. Junior guard Iceis Walker contributed season-high totals of 13 points, five rebounds and four assists, while freshmen Kamiyah Street (11) and Alexis Poole (10) also reached double figures for the Owls (3-7).

East Carolina center Thais Oliveira led all players with 22 points and nine rebounds to help the Pirates improve to 5-4.

STORYLINE
For the third consecutive game, the Owls held the lead at halftime but were unable to build upon it as East Carolina opened the third quarter with a 13-3 run to erase a 25-22 deficit and take a 35-28 lead with 6:22 remaining in the quarter, an advantage it would not relinquish. Kennesaw State rallied late in the period to cut the deficit to 43-41 heading into the fourth quarter. However, the Owls committed 11 turnovers in the final 10 minutes and were held without a field goal the final 4:26, making just five free throws. The Pirates sealed the game at the free throw line as they went 10-for-17 from the charity stripe.

QUOTING THE COACH
"I think we just had too many turnovers and they just out-manned us. They were more physical than us, stronger than us, and we did not make good decisions from the guard position," head coach Agnus Berenato said. "I was pleased with the free throw shooting and thought they really stepped up. It's something we've been working on and emphasizing. There will be some great points when we watch the video, but right now it's time for exams."

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Owls made a season-high 21 free throws in 26 attempts (80.8 percent), but committed a season-high 30 turnovers. KSU was also hurt inside as East Carolina held a 36-18 advantage in points in the paint and 35-31 edge in rebounding.

NEXT UP
The Owls will have a 10-day break for finals before returning to action on Friday, Dec. 15, when they take on Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga. Tip-off is 11 a.m. (ET).
