WG: Owls Ink Chloe Thornton to National Letter of Intent

11/8/2017 5:25:00 PM

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State women's golf head coach Rhyll Brinsmead welcomed in Chloe Thornton as she signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Owls for the 2018-19 school year on Wednesday (Nov.8).

"I am ecstatic to announce the signing of Chloe Thornton," Brinsmead said. "Chloe hails from Australia and will add to the depth and international dynamic of our roster. She had a stellar junior career and trains under one of the best coaches in Australia. I believe her best golf is ahead of her and her transition to college golf will be smooth. Chloe has extensive experience in the best events in Australia and has represented her home State. She is passionate about golf, a great student and most importantly an all-around quality person. Chloe had many D1 options to choose from during her recruitment, and we couldn't be happier she picked KSU for her college experience."

Thornton will come to KSU from Canberra, Australia where she attends Trinity Christian School. She won the ACT State Championship with rounds of 72-77-75-68 for a 4-over par total of 292. She was selected in the NSW State of Origin Match Play Championship defeating QLD and was the 2017 Wagga Wagga Junior Masters Champion. In 2016, she tied for second at the Tamar Valley Cup with rounds of 73-73-75-75. She also collected a second place finish at the Goulborn Junior Masters (73-68) and Tasmania Junior Masters (70-72).

"Kennesaw State has amazing facilities and great coaching staff that shows in the team's performance throughout tournaments," Thornton said. "Kennesaw State offers great support to all their student-athletes. I can't wait to join the roster next fall."

KSU completed its fall season with four top 4 finishes in four events. The Owls reached their highest ranking in program history at No.34 in the Golfstat rankings. KSU will return to action at the Amelia Island Collegiate at Amelia National Golf and Country Club, hosted by Jacksonville University on Feb. 19-20 in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
