CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Matched up against one of the top teams in the country, Kennesaw State found it difficult to get its offense untracked and fell 89-35 to No. 13/15 Maryland on Friday in the opening game of the Miami Thanksgiving Tournament hosted by the University of Miami Friday in Coral Gables, Fla.

Freshman guard Breanna Hoover came off the bench to pace the Owls (1-5) with a career-high nine points, while freshman forward Alexis Poole had a team-high eight rebounds and added five points for Kennesaw State.

Blair Watson led a group of four Terrapins in double figures with 20 points, while Brianna Fraser scored 10 points and added a game-high 12 rebounds to record a double-double.

STORYLINE
A slow start put the Owls down early as they opened the game 1-for-11 from the field, finished the first quarter 3-for-14, and trailed 22-8 after 10 minutes. Kennesaw State went the final 6:59 of the second quarter without a field goal and trailed 47-15 at halftime.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Owls turned the ball over a season-high 28 times, leading to 37 Maryland points. The Terrapins shot 51 percent (35-for-69) from the field, including 11-for-25 (44 percent) from behind the three-point arc, while limiting Kennesaw State to 23 percent (12-for-53) shooting. Â

Maryland (Big Ten) represented KSU's first nationally ranked opponent since Dec. 15, 2013 when the Owls fell at No. 16 Georgia, 91-32.
