KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kennesaw State was one of 546 women's soccer programs comprising all intercollegiate levels to earn the 2016-17 All-Academic Team Award by the United Soccer Coaches (USC), the organization announced on Thursday (Oct. 5).

The USC recognizes the academic prowess of soccer teams across all collegiate levels who are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point of average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.

Under the leadership of first-year head coach
Benji Walton, Kennesaw State posted a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.39.

"As a program, we make it real clear that academics come first," Walton said. "Our players work very hard to do all they can to achieve a high standard in the classroom. I am so proud that their hard work has been recognized." Â

The 2017 Owls are currently 6-6-3 on the season and close out their regular-season home schedule on Saturday (Oct. 14) when they host NJIT at noon. It also marks Senior Day as six individuals are completing their eligibility this fall and will be recognized prior to the match.
