Johns Creek, Ga.
- The Kennesaw State women's golf team quickly returned to action at the Ladies Fall Intercollegiate Invitational on Friday (Oct. 27). The team sits in a tie for fifth place after the first round at the par-72, 6,210-yard Highlands Golf Course at the Atlanta Athletic Club.

"Today was a true test of golf," head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "This is the most challenging course we will see all year. This felt like a postseason setup. I'm proud of the team for fighting all day, knowing it was a challenge for everyone out here. Kwan's round was very impressive, even though she felt like she left many shots on the course. The whole team knows we can improve on this score but again I'm proud of how we stayed composed even when the frustration level was high. We know this type of course is what we will see in the postseason, so it's great preparation. Tomorrow, we need to focus placing the ball in the best part of the green and minimizing putts on the green. We are currently in the top 5 and within striking distance of the lead."

The Owls posted a 20-over par 308 grab a tie for fifth with Coastal Carolina and Louisville. Georgia shot an 11-over par 299 to grab the team lead after round one.

Kwan Wongsinth carded a 3-over par 75 to lead the Owls and is currently tied for eighth. Wongsinth rolled in four birdies and seven pars during her opening round.

Madison Caldwell and Henriette Nielsen both recorded rounds of 5-over par 77 and are tied for 17th. Both players made two birdies and 10 pars during their rounds.

Charlotte Charrayre played her final nine holes of the day in 1-over 37 to post a 7-over par round of 79. Charrayre collected two birdies and nine pars during her round and is tied for 27th.

Roanne Tomlinson carded a 9-over par 81 and is tied for 38th.

Playing as an individual, Clara Aveling shot a 13-over par 85 and is tied for 56th.

Kennesaw State will tee off in the second round beginning Saturday (Oct.27) at 8:50 a.m. Live scoring for the second round is available here.
