ATHENS, Ga. – Two members of the Kennesaw State women's tennis team wrapped up action in the ITA Southeast Regional at the University of Georgia this weekend.
Senior
Alexandra Mercado competed in the main draw of the singles bracket, while Mercado teamed with junior
Jessica Cantrell in the main draw of the doubles competition. The tournament field features student-athletes from 17 different schools located in the state of Georgia and Florida. Regional winners will advance to the Oracle/ITA Fall National Championships next month in Indian Wells, California.

Mercado was downed in the first round of the main draw by Monica Matias of UCF, then fell to Elizabeth Danailova from Georgia State in the consolation draw first round.

In doubles, Mercado and Cantrell were clipped in the first round by FGCU's Forster and Ornberg, 8-2, in the main draw. The consolation bracket saw the Owls take down Georgia Southern's de Winter and van Diemen, 8-4, before falling to Georgia State's Rehse and Vovk, 8-1.

The Owls will finish their fall schedule Nov. 3-4 at the Furman Duals.
