Newark, N.J. – Former Kennesaw State softball standout Keri McKee Cortolano joined four other individuals who were inducted into the ASUN Conference Hall of Fame Monday night during a ceremony on the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) campus.

Cortolano, who became the first Kennesaw State University individual inducted into the ASUN Conference Hall of Fame, was honored along with Houston Baptist's Colin Montgomerie, Jacksonville's Russell Knox, Stetson's Chris Westervelt and Florida Atlantic's Nicole Myers.

Cortolano was a two-time ASUN All-Conference First Team selection in 2006 and 2007, and in 2007 enjoyed an outstanding senior season. Earning 2007 ASUN Player of the Year honors, she led KSU to its first ASUN regular-season championship. Cortolano led the ASUN in batting (.422) (remains KSU's single-season record), hits and doubles. She finished her two-year ASUN Conference career with a .416 average, 76 runs scored, 154 hits, 30 doubles, eight home runs and 76 RBIs. Her .416 career average is best on KSU's Division I career list, and it currently ranks her fifth on the ASUN career list as well.

"Keri's inclusion in this year's HOF class is most deserving," current KSU Senior Associate Athletics Director and former head softball coach Scott Whitlock said. "She helped lead the KSU softball program into the Division I era; and her accomplishments speak for themselves. She was an outstanding player and a better teammate. It was both an honor and a pleasure to coach her. The entire Owl Nation, including one old coach, cannot be more thrilled."

The following a capsule on this year's nominees.

Colin Montgomerie, Houston Baptist, Men's Golf
A 1987 graduate of Houston Baptist University, Colin Montgomerie helped lead the Huskies to three-straight Trans America Athletic Conference (TAAC) titles (1984-86) and multiple NCAA Tournament appearances (1985-87). As a senior, he helped his HBU team to a fifth-place finish in the 1987 NCAA Championship. Montgomerie was the TAAC Player of the Year and Championship individual medalist in 1985 while setting the conference tournament record that season with an 11-under 205, which still ranks third today.

Russell Knox, Jacksonville, Men's Golf
A native of Inverness, Scotland, Knox earned membership to the 2004 ASUN All-Freshmen Team after he led the Dolphins in four of seven events in his first season and earned an individual medalist honor. A second-team All-Conference selection as a sophomore, Knox returned in 2006 to a heightened level of success. He earned membership to the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-American Team, and was a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar, eclipsing the requirements of at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and under a 76.0 stroke average for Division I play.

Chris Westervelt, Stetson, Baseball
On the diamond, Westervelt was a two-time ASUN Player of the Year (2002, 2004) who finished his career with a .350 batting average, 44 doubles, 35 home runs and 135 RBI in 190 career games. During his two best seasons, Westervelt hit .403-(2002) and .385 (2004) and earned four All-America awards. In 2002, he was selected to the Collegiate Baseball Second-Team and Baseball America Third-Team. In 2004 he followed that with All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball and College Baseball Insider. Also a two-time all-region selection, Westervelt helped Stetson to NCAA Regionals in 2001, 2002 and 2003 and the Hatters won 162 games during his four seasons.

Nicole Myers, Florida Atlantic, Softball
St. Petersburg, Fla., native Nicole Myers is the most highly decorated player in the history of ASUN and FAU Softball. A three-time ASUN Player of the Year, Myers' talent also translated into four ASUN Tournament MVP honors as she helped the Owls to a conference title in each of her four seasons at FAU. Myers, who pitched in an NCAA Tournament in each of her four seasons with the Owls, ranks in the Top 10 of 14 ASUN Career statistics and continues to hold distinction as the ASUN single-season leader in ERA, strikeouts, wins, complete games and shutouts. During her stellar career she was named ASUN Pitcher of the Week 15 times and Player of the Week another six.
