ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Kennesaw State women's soccer team returned to its winning ways as it posted a 2-0 victory over UNC Asheville Sunday (Sept. 4) in Asheville, N.C.

Senior Shannon Driscoll scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the first half, and senior Cassidy Kemp struck for a score in the second half to help the Owls improve to 4-1-1 on the year.

BENJI BITES
"It was another hard fought physical game and the team was focused from the start," head coach Benji Walton said. "It took both teams a while to get settled in and we were finally able to breakthrough on a corner kick by Kim Fincher that Shannon Driscoll finished with a nice goal to put us on top. We played an outstanding second half, probably the most composed the team has played in a while. We made a lot of smart passes and Cassidy Kemp made a great left-footed kick to give us an insurance goal."

WALTON ON THE PLAY OF THE MIDFIELD
"Kaitlyn Sterling probably played the game of her life and Monica Herrera, Ashtah Das and Carly Pressgrove played great and really helped us control the game in the midfield. It was a great team win."

WALTON ON BOUNCING BACK FROM A LOSS
"It's was important for us to bounce back after Friday's loss. Soccer is a difficult sport. Sometimes you can play great and not win and sometimes you don't play as well as you should. Our message to the team was you have to be resilient and respond to what didn't go your way on Friday. That was our mission and it was a true team effort all the way across the board."
