COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn. – Kennesaw State junior
Wyatt Larkin shot a 1-over par 73 to highlight play during Sunday's opening round of the FAMC Intercollegiate at The Grove Sunday in College Grove, Tenn.
Larkin's first-round total helped the Owls to an 18-hole total of 12-over par 300 that has them in 11th place in the 14-team event. Cincinnati currently leads the field after posting an even-par round of 288 and has a two-shot advantage over host Middle Tennessee (290).
"We came out a little flat today and just never got anything going," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "Wyatt put together a nice round to continue his momentum from last week."
Larkin is tied for 13th and is three shots off the lead that is shared by Paul Huber of Cincinnati and Troy's Clay Vannoy. Both players opened with a 2-under par 70.
KSU sophomore
Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero Torres (75) is tied for 43rd, while seniors
Christopher Guglielmo and
Teremoana Beaucousin, and freshman
Connor Coffee are tied for 52nd after shooting a 4-over par 76.
"A solid day tomorrow (Monday) will set us up for a run towards the top in the final round," Odom said.
Tournament play continues on Monday with Kennesaw State grouped with North Carolina State and scheduled to tee off at 9:39 a.m. (ET) from the first hole. All the action can be followed live at
