9/13/2016 11:10:00 AM

KENNESAW, Ga. – After serving four years under head coach Mike Sansing from 2013-16, Trey Fowler has been named the Assistant Coach for the Kennesaw State baseball team, which became official on Sept. 6, 2016.

During his tenure with the Owls, Fowler has helped lead a group of young men to a 127-109 (.554) record, including a 2014 Super Regional Appearance and a 2016 ASUN regular season championship. Fowler came to Kennesaw State after eight years at Truett-McConnell College and a short stint at Georgia Perimeter Junior College.

Fowler has been an integral part of the Owls' success on and off the field. In 2016, KSU went an impressive 17-4 in ASUN play, earning the title of regular season champions for the first time in program history. Kennesaw State, with the help of Fowler's guidance, won each of its seven series to become the first ASUN team to accomplish that feat since in six years.

His track record of recruiting quality student-athletes has also been evident as 40 All-Conference/and or Region performers, and four Rawlings Gold Glove winners, seven All-American, and one Region Pitcher of the Year have all come from the help of Fowler.

"Words cannot express how blessed I feel to be able to stay and continue my coaching career here at Kennesaw State. I have been very fortunate to work for two great men during my 13 years within college baseball in Jim Waits and Mike Sansing," Fowler said. "I am very fortunate Coach Sansing had the faith in me to follow in the footsteps of some great recruiters that have paved the way here like Bob Roman, Ryan Coe, Derrick Tucker, and Derek Simmons. Kennesaw State is a great place to be and having the opportunity to work along side who I feel is the best pitching coach/developer in the country in Kevin Erminio while working for one of the best coaches in college baseball history makes it even more special."

As a player, Fowler served as a LHP/1B/DH at Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia under the direction of Head Coach Jim Peeples. During his time at Piedmont, Fowler earned accolades as a three-time academic all-conference performer while helping lead the 2002 and 2003 teams to NCCAA World Series appearances. Fowler closed out his career in 2004 helping lead Piedmont to its first ever Conference Tournament Championship.

Fowler is originally from Morrow, GA. He earned his BA degree in Broad Field Social Science from Piedmont in 2004 and his MBA from Piedmont in 2007 and currently resides in Acworth, Ga. with his wife, Molly, and his newborn daughter Kensleigh.
