XC: Owls Announce 2016 Cross Country Schedule

Kennesaw State to Run in Five Regular Season Events

KENNESAW, Ga. - The Kennesaw State men's and women's cross country teams and second-year  head coach David Poteet officially announced their 2016 schedule, with the season beginning on September 3rd at the Georgia Invitational.

"We have a lot of new faces this year and some strong returners," head cross country coach David Poteet said. "The schedule has been designed to challenge the upperclassmen and help the high number of freshmen adapt to college running. It's a great mix and fits our men's and women's team makeup."
 
Next up, both teams will then head to Gainesville, Florida for the UF Mountain Dew Invitational on Saturday, September 17.

Then, Kennesaw State will race in the USC Upstate Classic for the in a row on October 4. Two weeks later, the teams will compete at the Crimson Classic on October 18 in Tuscaloosa Alabama. 

The teams will then prepare for the 2016 Atlantic-Sun Cross Championship, which will take place on October 29 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The 2016 NCAA South Regional will be on the campus of Florida State University on November 11. The NCAA Championships take place just two weeks later on November 22 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
 
The men's team returns three athlete from last year's roster. Junior Jordan Hand and sophomores Simone Colombini and Derrick Kinyanjui will lead a talented group of newcomers this season.

The women's team returns three runners from last year's squad including senior  Kidan Kidane who was the Owls top finished runner-up at the 2015 Atlantic Sun Championships and earned First Team All-Conference honors. They will be joined by a group of newcomers who will help strengthen the team.
