THE STORYLINE:
· Kennesaw State's 2016 campaign concluded Thursday afternoon, dropping a 6-0 contest to FGCU in the ASUN Conference Championships at Ken Dugan Field.
· The Owls were limited offensively as FGCU went 7-for-15 with two outs (five two-out RBI), plating two runs in the sixth, seventh and one eighth to help secure the win.
· With the loss, the Owls' 2016 campaign concluded with a 29-27 overall record, and finished with their first regular season title in program history going 17-4 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
· In what became a pitcher's duel early on between Kennesaw State's
Chris Erwin and FGCU's Kenton Hering, the two went back-and-forth throughout the afternoon.
· Erwin, a lefty from Grayson, Ga., tossed 6.2 solid innings, allowing five runs on seven hits.
· Erwin held the Eagles to just one run throughout the first five innings, including retiring eight batters in a row from the third through the fifth.
· However, a two-run home run in the sixth inning gave the Eagles a 3-0 lead, and two more in the seventh extended their lead to 5-0.
· On the other side of the mound, FGCU's Kenton Hering held the potent Owls' offense to just four base runners through the first five innings, and allowed just two hits and no runs in 6.1 innings of work.
· Offensively, Upshaw (2-for-3) was the lone Owls to record a hit and KSU used a total of five pitchers on the day.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Grant Williams reached base for the 21
st consecutive ballgame in the first inning of Thursday's contest.

Austin Upshaw added to his team-leading category of doubles on the roster, hitting his 13
th of the season in the first inning.
· Upshaw totaled his 24
th multi-hit game of the season, which leads the Owls.
SEASON REVIEW
·Kennesaw State concluded its 2016 season with a 29-27 overall record and a 17-4 mark in ASUN play.
· The Owls won their first regular season title in program history.
· KSU won all seven of their regular season series in ASUN action for the first time in program history.
