WG: Owls Post Solid Final Round at Clemson Invitational

Team Fires Second Lowest Round of Spring on Final Day of Tournament

Final Scores

Sunset, S.C.-
The Kennesaw State women's golf team fired their second best round of the spring season in the final round of the inaugural Clemson Invitational at the Reserve at Lake Keowee on Sunday.

As a team, the Owls carded a third round score of 6-over par 294 to push their three round total to 904 and a 12th  place finish head of  Boston College and Virginia Tech. The 14 team field featured seven top-50 ranked teams in the Golfstat rankings.

"This is the round we've been patiently waiting for," Head Coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "As I said earlier, our scores the first two round didn't reflect the quality of our play. I'm proud of the way we fought today, making 7 birdies on our last 8 holes. This will give us the confidence we need heading into a week of preparation before conference. Clara, Dulcie and Medy deserve an individual recognition for their rounds today. They were very solid today and I'm excited to build on this finish."

Medy Thavong, fired a one-over par 73 in the final round to push her three day total to 224 (+8) and tie her for 36th place overall

Clara Aveling fired a one-under par 71 and Dulcie Sverdloff carded  a one-over par 73 to both finish tied for 39th at nine-over par 255 (+9).

Laura Estefenn posted a final round 77 to finish tied for 66th

Charlotte Charrayre (238) rounded out the scoring for the Owls in a tie for 73rd.

No. 8 Florida fired a one-under par 287 to win the team title with a three round total of 861 (-3) to win by one shot over No. 33 Furman. Michigan State's Katie Sharp took home the individual title with a final round 70 a total of eight-under par 208.

The Owls will now have one week to prepare for the A-Sun Championships which will take place April 10-12 in Kissimmee, Florida at the Reunion Resort. KSU will be looking to defend their conference title which they won a season ago by a conference record 30 shots in 2015.
