BSB: Owls Fall In Series Finale To UNF

THE STORYLINE: 
· North Florida defeated Kennesaw State Sunday afternoon, 9-2, in the series finale in front of 383 fans at Stillwell Stadium.
· The Ospreys avoided a series sweep, scoring nine runs on 11 hits – including a five-run fifth frame to propel them past the Owls.
· With the loss, the Owls dropped to 11-18 overall and 2-1 in conference play, and UNF improved to 17-12 and 1-2 in A-Sun action.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 
· UNF's Austin Drury (2-0) out-dueled Kennesaw State's AJ Moore (1-3) on the mound, pitching 6.1 innings and allowed just four Owl hits and one earned run.
· Moore, who was charged with the hard-fought loss, worked 4.1 innings and allowed five runs on seven hits and struck out two UNF batters.
· The Ospreys scored six runs, including a five-run fifth, in the middle innings on six hits and never trailed in the ballgame.
· Down 6-0 in the bottom of the seventh, sophomore Grant Williams hit an RBI sacrifice fly ball to score senior Alex Liquori from third.
· UNF plated three more runs in the top half of the eighth to give its largest lead of the ballgame at 9-1.
· Williams also recorded his second RBI of the day with a single in the ninth frame to plate Liquori once again.
· The Owls used three pitchers throughout the day, as Tony Dibrell and Mason Ward saw action out of the pen.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 
· Prior to today's game, the Owls won eight straight contests over the Ospreys at Stillwell Stadium, including series' sweeps in 2012 and 2014.
· Alex Liquori totaled his team-leading sixth double of the season.
· The Owls won the series, taking 2-of-3 from the Ospreys with a dramatic 2-1 walk-off victory Friday night before KSU took a 10-4 final Saturday.
 
UP NEXT
 The Owls will take on Georgia Tech in non-conference mid-week action Wednesday at Russ Chandler Stadium at 6 p.m.
