Sunset, S.C.- Medy Thavong led the Kennesaw State women's golf team in round two of the inaugural Clemson Invitational at the Reserve at Lake Keowee on Saturday.
As a team, the Owls carded a second round score of 19-over par 307 to go with their first round 303 to push their two round total to 610 and find themselves tied for 12
th with Boston College and Virginia Tech headed into the final round.
"We knew the course set up and conditions would be tougher today, the scores across the field reflect that," Head Coach
Rhyll Brinsmead said. "We struggled on the front nine turning at 14 over, but I am proud of how the team fought back on the back nine and put together a decent round. We have been focusing on our individual goals each day and we have a lot of positives to build on heading into the last round."
Thavong,fired a four-over par 76 in the second round to push her two day total to 151 (+7) and tie her for 38
th place headed in to the final round.
Dulcie Sverdloff fired a second round 77 to push her two round total to 152 and is tied for 43rd.
Clara Aveling posted a 79 in the second round and is tied for 57
th through 36 holes with a 154 total.
Laura Estefenn (155) and
Charlotte Charrayre (156) round out the scoring for the Owls.
Florida fired a two over-par 290 to maintain the team lead. Florida's Samantha Wagner and Karolina Vicova are tied for the lead along with Michigan State's Katie Sharp at -6.
Round three of the Clemson Invitational is scheduled to begin Sunday (April 2) at the Reserve at Lake Keowee at 8:30 a.m.
