Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
· Kennesaw State's starter
Tony Dibrell, a sophomore from Alpharetta, Ga., put together a gutsy performance on Tuesday night.
· The righty worked out of a bases-loaded, no-out inning jam in the top of the first and went on to allow one unearned run in his five innings of work.
· Dibrell allowed six hits and struck out five batters, while issuing just two walks on 99 pitches on the bump.
· Behind Dibrell's efforts, the Owls proved to be aggressive offensively from first pitch, plating six runs throughout the first four frame to open up a 6-1 lead.
· The Owls opened things up with a crooked three runs in the bottom half of the first, highlighted by a two-run single off
Jeremy Howell's bat after a bases-loaded walk.
· Kennesaw State continued in the second when junior
Corey Greeson hit his fourth home run of the season to extend the lead to 4-1 after the Tigers plated a run in the top half.
· After Dibrell shut out Auburn in consecutive innings, the Owls were able to extend their lead to five with two runs in the bottom of the fourth – coming off an RBI single from
Austin Upshaw.
· Auburn left 15 runners on base, including three innings with bases loaded as KSU worked out of several jams.
· The Owls used six pitchers out of the bullpen to close the door on the Tigers to earn the mid-week clash showdown – including scoreless frames frame
Logan Hutchinson and
Richard Lovelady.

Â
QUOTABLE:"It was a great team win tonight over a good Auburn team. Tony (Dibrell) pitched a good game and gave us five strong innings. Our bullpen has been a key for us lately and, for the most part, held off Auburn and gave us our first win over a good SEC team at home. We will use this win to build on as we look forward to conference play this weekend."
