KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Freshman
Clara Aveling led Kennesaw State women's golf team in the second round at the 2016 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship on Monday(April 11) at the par-72, 6,100-yard Reunion Resort Watson Course.
"Today was tough, but I'm actually relieved to be in the position of only six shots back of the lead." said head coach
Rhyll Brinsmead. "Clara was exceptional again today and she deserves to be leading this event. We have to be more aggressive in our approach tomorrow. I feel good about our chances tomorrow as we have a chance to fight back and earn this win."
The Owls carded a 16-over par 304 in the second round to push their two day total to 594 ( +22) and move them into third place overall and six shots behind North Florida who fired a six-over par 294 to grab the lead.
Aveling, followed up her opening round 70 with a one-under par 71 in round two pushing her total to 141 (-3). The freshman made 11 pars and 4 birdies in her second round. The Linkebeek, Belgium native leads the field by four strokes headed into the final round.
Junior
Dulcie Sverdloff carded a five-over par 77 in her second round to put her in a tie for 12
th with a two-day total of 152 (+8)
Medy Thavong and Charlotte Charrayre are tied for 14
th with a total of 153 (+9). Charraryre posted a 77 and Thavong a 79 in round two in their first A-Sun Championship appearance.
Junior Laura Estefenn tied for 21st place through 36 holes with a two-round total of 155 (+11).
Final round action at the A-Sun Conference Championship begins tomorrow, Monday, April 12 with KSU's tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m. ET off of the No. 1 tee. Live scoring for the third round will be available
