SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team put together its second straight impressive performance of the week on Sunday (April 10) as it recorded a 6-1 victory over USC Upstate at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.
 
The Owls (3-15, 2-3) won matches at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions to capture the first point of the match. Ashleigh De Wet and Laura Hopton combined to post a 7-5 win to clinch the point after Gabriela Bueno and Isabela Castro teamed for a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.
 
In singles play, Hopton defeated Anna Zoske, 6-4, 6-7 (0-3), 7-5, to secure the match win for Kennesaw State. Alexandra Mercado outlasted Flippa Ericson, 6-4, 6-7 (0-3), 11-6 at No. 2 singles. Cristina Martin was a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 winner No. 3 singles, while De Wet and Cantrell won their matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
 
Kennesaw State will close out its regular season on Saturday (April 16) when it hosts Lipscomb Betty L. Siegel Student Recreation & Activities Center beginning at noon (ET). The contest will also mark Senior Day as Gabriela Bueno, Isabela Castro and Ashliegh De Wet will be recognized for their contributions during their KSU careers.
