WG: Owls Wrap Up Play at Henssler Intercollegiate

Aveling and Estefenn Earn Top-26 Individual Finishes

Kennesaw, Ga. – Clara Aveling and Laura Estefenn led the Kennesaw State women's golf team to a 10th-place finish against a solid field at the Henssler Intercollegiate. The tournament wrapped up Tuesday with 18 holes at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Georgia.

"We continue to have individual success each round but overall our team scores aren't where they need to be," Head Coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "We head to Clemson tomorrow for our final event before the conference championship. It's crucial we piece together some solid team rounds this weekend for our confidence. I have faith in this team to bring their best and continue to strive." 

 After shooting rounds of 77 and 75 on Friday, Aveling shot a final round 79 Tuesday to tie for 26th-place overall with a score of 231 (+15). Also placing 32nd was Estefenn, who posted a final round 80 Tuesday after her rounds of 73 and 78 on Monday.
 
The team title went to the top ranked team in the field, 24th-ranked Texas Tech, which shot a 307 in the final round to win the championship with a 26-over score of 890. The Red Raiders were 10 strokes clear of second-place Augusta University
 
The individual title was split between Fatima Cano of Troy, Lauren Mason of Texas Tech, and Josefine Nyqvist of Augusta University who all finished with three round totals of 221 (+5).
 
Freshman Charlotte Charrayre finished tied for 45th with her score of 237. She recorded an eagle on the par-five 16th hole knocking her approach shot in from 110 yards out. Dulcie Sverdloff fired a team low score of the day with a three-over par 75 to also finish tied for 45thHenriette Nielsen (253) rounded out the scoring for the Owls.
 
Kennesaw State returns to action April 1-3 at the Clemson Invitational at the Reserve in Lake Keowee golf course in Lake Keowee, South Carolina.
