BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Kennesaw State produced three consecutive hits in the top of the seventh inning to rally for three runs and post a 6-4 come-from-behind victory over Samford Tuesday (Mar. 22) at Samford Softball Field in Birmingham.

Kara Chambers doubled with one out, junior
Taylor Denton followed with a run-scoring single that tied the game and junior
Courtney Sutter provided the big go-ahead hit as she homered down the right field line to give the Owls their first lead of the game at 6-4.
Senior
Morgan Sikes (8-3) worked a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning to secure the win as Kennesaw State improved to 18-10.
"Tonight was another big step forward for our team," head coach
Tory Acheson said. "To come from behind on the road against a really good team was a great accomplishment. Everyone who was healthy played and several players had big games."
The Owls received solid production from the top three hitters in their lineup as Chambers (2-for-4), Denton (2-for-4) and Sutter (2-for-4) combined to go 6-for-12 with four runs scored and four RBIs. Chambers scored twice while Denton and Sutter each had two RBIs.

Megan Veringa also went 2-for-2 with an RBI, while pinch runner
Rachel Dennis and second baseman
Chandler Griffin scored.
"Kara got it (winning rally) started with the double and TD (
Taylor Denton) followed up with a huge game-tying single that set up Courtney for the go-ahead bomb," Acheson said. I'm really proud of these kids. Now it's time to get ready for a huge home series with Stetson this weekend."
Samford (15-14) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning against
Monica Vickery and added single runs in the third and fourth innings to take a 4-1 lead. Kennesaw State chipped away, scoring single runs in the fifth and sixth before mounting the winning rally in the seventh.
The Owls return home to Bailey Park on Friday (Mar. 25) to host Atlantic Sun Conference rival Stetson as they open a three-game series. Both games of Friday's doubleheader will be broadcast on ESPN3 beginning at 1 p.m. (ET). The series concludes on Saturday (Mar. 26) with a 1 p.m. contest that will also be available on ESPN3.
NOTES* Junior
Taylor Denton extended her hitting streak to a season-high five games.
* With her 17th stolen base on Tuesday, Denton increased her career total to 47 and places her fourth on the program's all-time career stolen bases list, one behind teammate
Kara Chambers, who is third with 48.
* Junior
Courtney Sutter homered for the second straight game and seventh time this season. It represented her 20th career home run and moved her into sole possession of 10th place on the Owls' all-time home run list.
* With her sixth-inning RBI, senior first baseman
Megan Veringa increased her career RBI total to 95 and moved her to within five of 100.
