Laura Estefenn, the Kennesaw State women's golf team posted a 14th-place finish against a strong field at the Mountain View Collegiate. The tournament wrapped up Saturday with 18 holes at the Mountain View Golf Club in Tucson Arizona.
"We played some quality golf today, Head Coach
Rhyll Brinsmead said. "Yesterday was a tough but the team made a decision to approach today with a clean slate and I'm pleased with their play today. Individually, we had some great great play, even/under par rounds from Dulcie, Laura, and Charlotte is very good for their confidence. Excited to head home and prepare for our home event."
After shooting rounds of of 72 and 76 on Friday, Estefenn shot a 75 on Saturday to finish in 30
th place overall with a score of 223 ( 7). Placing 42nd was
Dulcie Sverdloff, who posted a round of and 76 Saturday after her Friday 70 and 79.
The team title went to fifth-ranked Georgia ,which shot a one- over par round of 289 in Saturday's final round to win the championship with a 7-under score of 864. The Bulldogs were seven strokes clear of second-place Iowa State.
Four other top-45 ranked teams comprised the top seven.
Freshman
Clara Aveling finished 61st with her score of 230. She posted a score of 76 on Saturday. Rounding out the scoring for the Owls were
Charlotte Charrayre (231) and
Medy Thavong (238).
Kennesaw State returns to action March 28-29 when it host the Hennsler Intercollegiate at the Pinetree Intercollegiate March 28-29.
