Weekend Preview
Kennesaw State travels to Birmingham, Ala. this weekend for a pair of non-conference dual matches at the Samford Tennis Center. The Owls will face the host Bulldogs on Saturday (Feb. 6) in a noon (ET) match before meeting UAB on Sunday (Feb. 7) at 1 p.m. (ET).
 
Kennesaw State enters the weekend 0-2 and is seeking its first win of the season.
 
The Series vs. Samford
Saturday will mark the fifth meeting between Kennesaw State and Samford with the Bulldogs leading the all-time series, 4-0. The two programs last met in 2015 with Samford posting a 7-0 victory.
 
The Series vs. UAB
Kennesaw State and UAB will meet for the sixth time on Sunday and the Blazers hold a 5-0 lead in the series. UAB recorded a 6-1 win in 2015.
 
The Last Time Out
Kennesaw State 6-1 to No. 24-ranked Georgia Tech (3-2) last Sunday (Jan. 31) at the Byers Tennis Complex in Atlanta. Senior Gabriela Bueno was credited with the lone Owls' win, defeating Natasha Prokhnevska by default at No. 6 singles. Sophomore Alexandra Mercado captured three games from No. 92 Rasheeda McAdoo at No. 2 singles in a 6-1, 6-2 setback.
 
About Samford
The Bulldogs (1-1) are coming off a 7-0 setback at No. 40 Auburn on Jan. 30. Samford opened its dual match schedule with a 7-0 win over Jackson State on Jan. 24.
 
About UAB
The Blazers begin play this weekend with a 1-2 mark following a 4-1 victory at Chattanooga on Jan. 30. UAB opened the season with road losses to nationally-ranked Georgia Tech and Auburn.
 
Next Up
Following this weekend's play, Kennesaw State will return to action on Friday, Feb. 12, when it travels to Montgomery, Ala. to take on Alabama State at 3 p.m. (ET).
