Owls grab fourth place finish as a team.

 Sophomore Medy Thavong and senior Dulcie Sverdloff took home first and second place individually, and led the Kennesaw State women's golf team to a fourth place finish at the Johnie Imes Invitational on Tuesday (Oct. 4) at the par-72, 7,2231-yard Club at Old Hawthorne.

"Today was a special day for the Owls, finishing first and second overall in the individual standings," head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "I'm so happy for Medy to earn her first collegiate win, she really showed maturity today. Following each of her three bogeys with a birdie. As a team, to earn a fourth place finish is a step in the right direction. We are really putting together solid rounds and I am very happy with our team energy and effort. We're having fun on the course and enjoying the process of competing."

Thavong carded a final round even-par 72 to record a total of 211 (-5) and secure a two-stroke victory over Sverdloff who closed with an even-par 72 and finished in a tie for second at 3-under par 213. The win is Thavong's first as a collegiate. Sverdloff's tie for second place finish is her fifth top-10 finish of her career, which ties her for fifth most in program history.

The Owls carded a final round 7-over par 295 to finish the tournament with a score of 12-over par 876. On the final day, Kennesaw State rolled in nine birdies and 63 pars. The Owls made a tournament-high 177 pars.

Sophomore Charlotte Charrayre  fired a final round two-over par 74 to finish tied for 49th with a total of 11-over par 227.

Junior  Henriette Nielsen  shot a final-round 77, while senior Laura Estefenn posted a final-round 78 as both finished tied for 54th with totals of 12-over par 228.

Missouri won the 15-team event at a total of even-par 864. Fresno State who fired a final-round even-par 288, finished second at 3-over par 867.

The Owls will head next to the Pinehurst Challenge hosted by the College of Charleston at the Pinehurst Resort and Country Club on October 10-11.
