Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero Torres all set career-low 18-hole scores to lead the Kennesaw State men's golf team during Monday's opening day of the Wolfpack Intercollegiate at the par-71, 7,358-yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C.
The KSU trio's performance helped Kennesaw State to rounds of 278-277 for a 36-hole total of 13-under par 555 and a second-place standing, five shots behind first-place East Carolina, which posted scores of 271-279 and tops the 17-team field at 18-under par 550.
"Today was a lot of fun for the team and we accomplished our goal of entering the final round in contention," Kennesaw State head coach
Bryant Odom said. "I am really proud everyone on the team as they all contributed with a round of par or better."
Guglielmo opened play with a 1-over par 72 and followed that up with a second-round 65 for a 5-under par 137, three shots behind co-leaders Timothy Conover of East Carolina and North Carolina State's Jacob McBride who are 8-under par 134.
Coffee turned in rounds of 72-67 for a 139 total and is tied for fifth, while Torres posted scores of 66-74, and is tied for 11th at 2-under par 140.
Sophomore
Jake Fendt (68-75-143, +1) and senior
Teremoana Beaucousin (76-71-147, +5) are tied for 24th and 48th, respectively.
"Tomorrow (Tuesday) we will play with the same aggression and commitment and see if we can bring the title back to Kennesaw," Odom said.
The Wolfpack Intercollegiate concludes Tuesday with play scheduled to get underway at 8 a.m. with Kennesaw State grouped with East Carolina and Augusta, set to tee off at 9:30 a.m. (ET). All the action can be followed live at
