WG: Owls Tied for Fifth after 36 holes at Pinehurst Challenge

PINEHURST, N.C. –
 The Kennesaw State women's golf team is tied for fifth after the first two rounds of the Pinehurst Challenge on Monday (Oct.10 ) at the par-72, 5974-yard Pinehurst No.1.
 
The Owls carded rounds of 295 ( 7) and 296 ( 8) for a 15-over par total of 591 through 36 holes of play and have three players in the top 26 individually.
 
"We had some highlights today but also left some shots out there that have left us a bit frustrated," Kennesaw State head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "I'm very proud of Henri, she's been waiting for this opportunity and took full advantage. The team is on the brink of excellence, we're fully expecting to execute and score tomorrow for the final round."
 
Junior Henriette Nielsen carded rounds of 73-73 for a total of 2-over par total of 146 and is tied for 12th. Her 36-hole total score of 146 is the lowest of her career
 
Reigning ASUN Conference Golfer of the Week, Medy Thavong posted rounds of 72-75 for a total of 3-over 147 is tied for 19th.  Senior Dulcie Sverdloff  fired rounds of 75-73 for a 4-over par total of 148 and is tied for 26th.
  
Senior Laura Estefenn is tied for 40th after recording rounds of 75-75 for a total of 150 at 6-over par.
 
Sophomore Charlotte Charrayre is tied for 52nd with an 8-over par total of 152 registering rounds of 77-75.
 
East Carolina leads the 18-team event at even-par 592 with rounds of 295-285 and owns a 10-shot lead over Auburn ( 10).
 
Third round action at the Pinehurst Challenge begins tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 11, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. ET. Live scoring for the final round will be available HERE.
