Spartanburg, S.C.- The Kennesaw State women's and men's cross country teams posted strong performances at the Upstate Invitational on the Milliken Research Park at South Carolina Upstate on Saturday, October 1.

"Both the women's and men's teams ran with confidence and aggressively," Kennesaw State head coach David Poteet said.  "That paid off with much better times and places. We are learning to stay smart aggressive, which leads to a better pack toward the front for the women, who placed a good third out if nine D1 teams. Kidan and Lexi Froh had exceptional races and everyone ran much better. The goal is to be ready to be our best at conference and regionals."

In the women's 5K race, the women's team was led by Kidan Kidane who won the race with a time of 17:39.63. Freshman Lexi Froh would cross the finish line 12th in 18:41.16. Sophomore Caitlyn Farrell would be next to finish in 20th with a time of 19:05.78. Freshman Bonnie Mckinnon (19:30.28) and Kaitlin Franklin
(19:33.48) finished 28th and 30th to round out the scoring for the Owls. Freshman Nicole Zaubi (19:43.08) and junior Saidah Grant (19:48.37) grabbed 34th and 36th places respectively. The Owls grabbed a third place finish as team scoring.

For the third consecutive meet the men's team was led by junior transfer Paul Schupp in their 8K race. Schupp finished 19th in 26:14.19.  Fellow junior Jordan Hand crossed the finish line in 26:31.64. Freshman Max Warner (27:28.14) and sophomore Derrick Kinyanjui (27:31.68) finished 32nd and 33rd respectively. Freshman Will Hasse rounded out the scoring for the Owls finishing 35th in (27:33.96).
